Ashley's Winter Tyre Blog pt2

Posted on by Matt Topham

Welcome to my second update on winter tyres Being an experiment we paid for the tyres in advance in full but being the innovative company that we are, we have a solution for our customers. We can now build in the initial cost of the winter tyres into your contract with us. More about that later in this article.

It took 10 days for the tyres to come in to stock. The tyres were delivered to my local Kwik-Fit. Once in stock it was simply a case of arranging a convenient time for me to have them fitted which took about 45 mins.

At first glance the wheels and tyres look just the same as my standard set. Gone are the horror stories about narrow steel wheels having to be fitted. As you can see from the photo only the style of the tread is different.

At this stage you're probably wondering about my standard tyres... Kwik fit kept these for me. They will now be sent to a tyre hotel until the spring months.

My initial reaction to the tyres is indifferent. In dry conditions there seems to be little difference in grip or handling. In wet conditions they appear to grip the road better but I guess this may be psychological. Many people have suggested my mpg will decrease by the change in tyres, I’ll keep you posted on this over the next few weeks.

Stay tuned to my blog for more details but if you want to know more about how we can spread the cost of winter tyres please speak with your account manager.
