In week 2 of our #OgilvieChristmas we are delighted to announce our support for PDSA – The Peoples Dispensary for Sick Animals.

PDSA provides free and low cost vet care for those who struggle to pay treatment costs for their sick and injured pets around the UK. Ogilvie Fleet’s donation will help PDSA to:

– Operate 48 UK pet hospitals 

– Administer 2.7million veterinary treatments – including 440,000 preventative treatments

– Carry out 2,000 remote consultations every day during the Coronavirus pandemic 

– Support 300,000 owners and their 470,000 much loved pets

The number of people enquiring to check if they are eligible to access PDSA’s services rose by 59% during the summer and enquiries to PDSA’s Pet Hospitals from eligible owners has also increased by 81%, putting even more pressure on the charity’s already busy veterinary teams.

Paul Manktelow, one of the charity’s vets on the front line, said: “We’re experiencing the start of a pet welfare crisis, as a result of Covid-19. 

“We’re now facing extremely high levels of enquiries for our services. For many sick and injured pets, whose owners are struggling financially, PDSA is their only emergency service.”
