We're delighted to announce that we have donated a total of £2,000 in support of two charities.
· £1,000 in support of Julie Goodyear, the company’s Birmingham office manager, who is taking part in the 12th Great Midlands Fun Run on Sunday, 1st June, 2014.
· £1,000 in support of the Fightmaster Cup, a three-day Ryder Cup-style golf tournament between The Society of One Armed Golfers and their rivals the NAOAGA (North American One Armed Golfers Association), which this year takes place from 12th-14th September at Stirling Golf Club.
Julie along with Birmingham office colleagues Olwen Pearson, Oliver Rudd (both area account managers) and Keely Morris (fleet administrator); Louise Blair (customer service team leader in Ogilvie Fleet’s Sheffield office) and Julie’s friend Craig Pullen are taking part in the 8.5-mile Fun Run around Sutton Coldfield in support of the Lymphoma Association. Donations in support of Julie and her colleagues can be made at http://www.justgiving.com/Julie-Goodyear1.
Meanwhile, we already has a close partnership with Stirling Golf Club and it was that relationship that prompted support for this year’s Fightmaster Cup.
Vice president of The Society of One Armed Golfers and chairman of the Fightmaster Cup organising committee Peter Priscott said: “Sponsorship from a company local to where the Fightmaster Cup is being held is always very valuable to us and gives the team a great incentive. We are very grateful to Ogilvie Fleet.”
The inaugural Fightmaster Cup between teams from Europe and the United States took place in 2008. It has since become the flagship international Ryder Cup-style match play tournament for the world’s best one armed golfers. Like the Ryder Cup, the event is alternated between venues in Europe and the United States every two years and is held close to that year’s Ryder Cup venue. As this year’s Ryder Cup takes place at Gleneagles 26th-28th September, the Fightmaster Cup is being hosted by Stirling Golf Club.
